When we started the client wasn't sure what they wanted other than landscaping around the pool. Exploring the the customers interests, we learned the client practiced yoga and incorporated a special place to find peace and meditate.
The Plan
The area around the pool was treated as separate space connected to to an existing patio with blue stone stepping stones. This created a subtle transition from an entertaining area to a lounging space, thus making the small yard feel bigger.
Plantings atop the patio wall envelop sunbathers in texture, color and scent.
To practice yoga a very large flat stone was placed in the garden adjacent to the pool .
A statue of Shira was placed atop a waterfall as a focal point making the poolscape personal and meaningful.
A balanced combination of trees, shrubs and perennials delivers color, texture and interest all year long.
Native cultivars of Rhododendrons provide an evergreen structure and a profusion of color in spring.
Native Sweet Bay Magnolia delights the senses with fragrant creamy white blooms.
Grasses add movement, and bursts of yellow and chartreuse brighten the shady space under existing trees.
