The client wanted a place to enjoy the outdoors with family, and a space that reflected her love of tropical landscapes and her Latin heritage. She shared pictures of hotels she visited, and wanted to feel like she had retired far south of New York.
Plan
The poolscape was designed to add color, texture and dimension to the open yard.
Landscaping at the far end of pool creates a focal point across the water in addition to a seating area that provides a different perspective to appreciate the landscape.
Crape Myrtles and plantings near the dining area provide depth, colorful coral colored flowers, and hardy hibiscus with saucer sized flowers that add a tropical punch.
Huge Alocasia leaves and the fronds of a Bottle Palm on the patio add to the tropical atmosphere.
Hardy roses and Nepeta add wonderful scents in addition to a profusion of pink and lavender flowers all summer long.
