The Serpent, the Dragon and the Monkey (NYC)

Only a few city blocks from Times Square deep in the concrete jungle was wonderful patch of dirt a couple wanted to turn into their urban oasis.  They had tried once before with unsatisfactory results.  I worked with the clients to not just create a garden, but to create a space that reflected who they are and their experiences.

Plan

  • Integrate pieces they collected to create a personal and meaningful garden space.
  • Incorporate woodland plantings and moss into the garden that reminds them of places they love up-state NY. 
  • Create a serpent of moss inspired by native american earthworks.
  • Ground covers, perennials and shrubs provide layers of interest, form and character.
