A Garden Sanctuary of Medieval Magic The landscape designers Isabel and Julian Bannerman have transformed their coastal English home with acres of demonstrative and dramatic flowers.
By TIM RICHARDSONSEPT. 23, 2016 The New York Times Style Magazine Inspired, motivated and ready to dig - once the ground thaws. Attended a fantastic seminar at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden by Thomas Rainer and Claudia West on natural landscaping in a post wild world. Great insight into the emerging world of sustainable design and practices. I have ordered and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of their book.
Thomas also has a great blog, Grounded Design, at http://landscapeofmeaning.blogspot.com/ The folks at Gardens Illustrated published their top plant picks for 2016. Some interesting choices that I will be looking for this spring. Rudbeckia subtomentosa ‘Henry Eilers’ is a little different and would look great in a natural garden paired with purple or orange. Some other great selections to look at including, Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’, a favorite of mine. "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
- Mark Twain An appropriate first post. This is pinned over my desk and I smile upon it often. Since starting this wonderful journey I have met great people, created beautiful landscapes, learn everyday and am making my dream come true. |
